Cake Care

1.  TRANSPORTATION

Cakes should NEVERbe placed on a car seat during transportation. If you are unable to bring another set of hands to hold the cake for transportation then it should be placed on a secure flat surface such as a footwell or the boot of the car on top of non-slip matting preferably

Chey-de Bakes will not be held accountable in the event of an incident once the cake has left the property after collection.

2.  STORAGE (BUTTERCREAM/GANACHE)

BUTTERCREAM/ GANACHE should be refrigerated in warmer weather as buttercream and chocolate can become soft and melt in a hot car or warm venue.

3.  STORAGE (FONDANT)

FONDANT covered cakes are NOT to be refrigerated. They should be in a cool dry place out of direct sunlight.

Pinks and Purples are extremely vulnerable to fading and can possibly result in the colouring fading pretty quickly.

4.  CAKE QUALITY/ SHELF LIFE

Chey-de Bakes occasion cakes, cupcakes, and other sweet treats all have a shelf life of 3 DAYS after collection or delivery, provided the products are stored correctly once they have been cut and exposed to air.

5.   AIR BUBBLES AFTER COLLECTION

In warm weather cakes may develop pockets of air within them. This happens as the layers of cake soften and compact the buttercream or ganache which also softens and pushes outwards. With no way of escaping, the trapped air will form a bubble. This is unavoidable. If you see this occurring immediately prick the bubble with a fine needle and allow the air to escape. Then gently press the fondant or ganache back against the cake. This will resolve the problem of trapped air. In extreme heat it’s a far safer option to keep the boxed cake in the fridge

6.   COLLECTION DISCLAIMER

Chey-de Bakes will not be held accountable in the event of an incident once the cake has left the property after collection.

If transportation isn't done correctly by the instructions further up it is not up to Chey-de Bakes to refund or re-make the cake in question.

7.  DELIVERY DISCLAIMER

Chey-de Bakes will not be held responsible for any damage to the cakes, cupcakes, or sweet treats supplied and displayed after a set up is complete. The venue of delivery is responsible for providing an appropriate and stable setting and environment for the cakes, cupcakes, or sweet treats supplied as they can sometimes be heavy and require a sturdy table.
